Behind the camera
I’m Tiago Lopes — videographer and cameraman in Brussels. I make corporate, brand, event and institutional video, and shoot camera for broadcast television.
Who I am
The thread through everything I do is adaptability. Years of making things end to end on my own — for my own YouTube channel and for clients — taught me to film, direct and edit, and to solve problems on the spot. Working in-house for brands meant wearing every hat at once. Television taught me to think fast when a moment won’t wait. Put those together and that’s what you get: someone who stays composed in rooms you can’t control, and finds a way to get the shot regardless.
What sets the work apart isn’t only the filming — it’s thinking about what the footage becomes. A single shoot, planned right, is a month of content: the hero film, the social cut-downs, the speaker clips, next year’s promo. I plan for that from the brief, so the value keeps working long after the day itself.
Before working full-time with video, I did communication and social media in food & beverage — mostly craft beer — which is where I learned how brands and audiences actually work. It’s why I think about the social side as much as the cinematic one, and why the films I make feel like the brand they’re for, not a stock template.
You deal directly with the person filming and cutting — and I bring in a trusted crew when a job needs it. I work in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish, based in Brussels and available across Belgium and Europe.
What makes the work different
- Solo, but broadcast-level. One person to deal with, the standards of someone who films for TV.
- Access most freelancers don't have. EU institutions, the European Parliament, NATO — the rooms, the protocol and the press timelines.
- Story first. I work out what a video needs to do before I work out how to shoot it.
- A brand brain, not just a camera. A decade in F&B taught me how brands and audiences work — so the video sounds like you.
- One shoot, many deliverables. I plan the cut-downs from the start, so a day's filming becomes weeks of content.
- Travels. Based in Brussels, available across Belgium and Europe.
