Planning institutional video? A few things worth knowing
- Accreditation takes time. Badge requests and security clearance can need days to weeks — send names, IDs and equipment lists as early as you can.
- You film around the room, not the other way around. Stage plans, fixed positions and timings are set by the institution or the venue. Get the run-of-show (or scout) in advance.
- Agree sign-off before you shoot. Decide who approves the final cut and what’s publishable. Institutional content lives or dies on clearance — settle it up front, not in the edit.
- Shoot for where it’ll live. A clip for LinkedIn, a film for the website and a loop for an event screen are different edits — decide the formats (vertical, horizontal, short, long) before the day.
- Keep one person who can decide. Give the crew a single contact who knows the schedule and can approve changes on the spot — it’s the difference between catching the moment and missing it.
Frequently asked questions
Can you film inside EU institutions?
Yes — and in many cases without arranging anything first: I hold a valid annual accreditation for the EU institutions and NATO, so I can often go straight in rather than waiting on a one-off badge. I film for EU-funded projects and consortia, and I cover EU politics as a cameraman for broadcast television. Security and protocol are familiar ground.
Do you handle multilingual delivery?
Yes — versioned edits, subtitles and captions across EU languages, with clean original-language audio captured so versioning stays clean. I’m comfortable working across several EU languages and can handle transcription and translation for a first pass.
One honest note: any translation into a language I don’t speak should be signed off by a native or local speaker before it goes out — often there’s a translator within the consortium we can work with.
Do you work with EU-funded projects and consortia?
Yes — and a lot of my work is exactly this: event coverage, interviews, b-roll libraries and social cut-downs for comms teams and project partners, aligned to your dissemination plan and reporting needs. I also work as the production partner for dissemination agencies that don’t have video in-house.
Can you cover photos as well as video?
Sometimes — think of it as an add-on to request, not a default. Video is my core craft, and when several things are happening at once it takes priority. If stills matter, I can cover both for around 150% of the video rate — solid, usable coverage for your site, socials and reporting, but not a dedicated photographer’s portfolio. It also competes for the same hands, so strong photo coverage and same-day social cuts are harder to guarantee together. Whether it’s the right call depends on the event and how the day is structured, so flag it up front and we’ll confirm it for your project.
How fast can you deliver for press or time-sensitive footage?
Fast when it’s needed. I’m used to press timelines and embargoed material — we agree turnaround and what’s publishable before the shoot.
If required, I can deliver a few simple social-ready clips during the event — depending on how tight the filming is — or stills for LinkedIn posts as it happens. This needs to be discussed upfront, and might or might not be possible.

Yes. Based in Brussels, available across Belgium and Europe — I travel regularly for television and project work.
